Also, remember that this weekend we begin our study of church leadership including an open discussion after the sermon. Be there.

Grace and peace.

Mission Group Questions

The text this week is John 6:16-71.

Does the text make sense? Especially verses 37-39, 44? Does it bother you? Why?

What do you think of J.I. Packer’s statement, “A God whom we could understand exhaustively, and whose revelation of himself confronted us with no mysteries whatsoever, would be a God in man’s image and therefore an imaginary God.”

Be sure to cover the Gospel and who you are sharing it with or praying about sharing it with.

May God bless your time together.

will be our last at the old PHS Gym! I’ll preach on John 6:16-71. The sermon is called, “If You Want To Walk On The Water Then Repent You Arrogant, Filthy Sinner!” Once I’m done yelling, Ryan Rolfe and the World’s Most Dangerous Praise Band will lead us in worship.

As always, Coffee & Community begins at 6:30 and Justin Clark will bring things to order around 7:00.

Mission Group Questions

April 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Mission Groups will cover John 6:1-15 this week.  Please review the following quotes from Christopher Wright’s book “The Mission of God” and discuss.

We ask, ‘Where does God fit into the story of my life?’ when the real question is, ‘Where does my life fit into this great story of God’s mission?’

We want to be driven by a purpose that has been tailored just right for our own individual lives, when we should be seeing the purpose of all life, including our own, wrapped up in the great mission of God for the whole of creation.

We talk about ‘applying the Bible to our lives.’ What we would it mean to apply our lives to the Bible instead, assuming the Bible to be the reality—the real story—to which we are called to conform ourselves?

We wrestle with ‘making the Gospel relevant to the world.’ But in this story, God is about the business of transforming the world to fit the shape of the Gospel.

We argue about what can legitimately be included in the mission that God expects from the church, when we should ask what kind of church God wants for the whole range of his mission.

I may wonder what kind of mission God has for me, when I should be asking what kind of me God wants for his mission.”

As always, be sure to cover the Gospel and who you are sharing it with or who you are praying about sharing it with.

Grace and peace.

Justin Clark will open things up at 7 and I (Matt) will preach on John 6:1-15. The sermon is titled, “A New Exodus.” After I’m done ranting, Ryan Rolfe & The World’s Most Dangerous Praise Band will lead worship.

A lot is happening at Revolution. This week we have our very first Easter service. In your honor, I promise to even “dress up” for the service! However, it will still be casual and a lot of fun and we encourage you to join us to celebrate the fact that the tomb is empty.

Also, we will soon be receiving outside funding, move in to our own building, begin a weekly Bible study on church leadership, launch our own web page and more.

This week’s sermon covers John 6:1-15 and is entitled “The New Exodus.” The sermon for April 19 will cover the rest of John 6 and I’m calling it “If You Want To Walk On The Water then Repent You Filthy, Arrogant Idolater.”

Furthermore, we hope to be in our new building by the end of April and will kick it off with another round of “Ask Pastor Matt.”

Revolution is a church plant that is all about worshiping our King, growing close to Him and to each other and then serving King Jesus in our community. So far, God has truly blessed our efforts. Pray that he continues to do so.

If you have never been to Revolution, then please come check us out this week. No matter who you, where you have been or what you have done, you are welcome to come hang with us every Sunday night.

Mission Group Questions

As always, the following are suggestions for the group leaders to follow.  Just be sure to cover John 5:18-47, what is the Gospel and who are you sharing the Gospel with or who are you praying for opportunities to share the message of Jesus with?

How does the portrait of Jesus in our culture compare with the Biblical portrait? Does it make a difference to you? Do you think it would change the way men view the faith? Do you see your Christian life as a war? Do you ever feel the need to muster courage to stand as a Christian? If not, why not?

May God bless your time together.

Grace and peace.

…20 Ton Angel will perform an entire set. This will be lead singer Sherman’s last show, so be sure to be there. The last two times 20 Ton has played it has been awesome! They will surely proceed to blow the roof of the old PHS gym.

As always, Coffee & Community will begin at 6:30 with one of my favorite live CD’s from last year playing in the background and Justin Clark will bring things to order around 7:00 with a short sermon entitled “Our Jesus Can Beat Up Your Jesus.”

After I’m done yelling, 20 Ton will kick some tail.

As always, come as you are. I hope to see you there.
