Revolution Mission Group Training begins this weekend.
What is a “Mission Group”? It is part Bible study, part accountability and part service. Every person who attends the next three Revolution services will be able to sign up for a group. You will then be assigned to a group of 5-7 people who will meet weekly beginning in February for roughly an hour per meeting. The group will discuss the sermon and sermon text from the last worship service and will talk about how each person is doing in regards to the various spiritual disciplines (meditation on Scripture, prayer, fasting, giving, etc.) and who they are seeking to evangelize. The group will also pray for one another and for opportunities to engage in social justice in the name of Jesus. Each group will be expected to participate in one social justice project per month like staffing the Father’s Table Ministry which feeds the homeless on Friday nights.
The Leadership Team (Me [Matt], Eron, Ryan and Justin) believe that God has granted us a vision for Revolution and it is best summarized by “Worship-Grow-Serve.”
We gather to worship King Jesus every Sunday night. We will grow through the accountability offered by the Mission Groups. We will serve King Jesus by engaging in social justice.
If you think you are up for it then join us over the next three weeks. We meet every Sunday night at the old Portsmouth High School Gym on 8th & Waller Street.
“Coffee & Community” kicks off at 6:30 with good music (not the usual Contemporary Christian junk), good coffee and time to just hang out with each other. Pastor Justin brings things to disorder around 7:00 and worship usually end by 8:15.
If you’ve got the desire and the guts for it then we will see you there.
